Another Winger? Chelsea target pacy Dortmund boy

Chelsea are reportedly interested in adding another winger to their ranks this summer.

The Blues are said to want another versatile wide player and a centre forward this summer after struggling at times to score last season. They have set their sights on Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi, who is currently called at £35 million.

However, Enzo Maresca’s side have an obstacle on their path in their pursuit of Adeyemi, who is said to be uninterested in any club that is not playing Champions League football. The 22-year-old was one of Dortmund’s stand-out performers in their Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid at Wembley last month, and he wants to pick up where he left off should he be sold this summer.

According to Sports Mail, Dortmund, who are starting life under new manager Nuri Sahin this summer are willing to sell Adeyemi if the right offer comes. That has alerted clubs across Europe, including some in England, but Adeyemi is set only on playing for a side competing in the elite club competition.

What Top Six Football Thinks

The fact is that Karim Adeyemi is an exciting winger who will walk into most top teams in Europe’s top five leagues. But we believe that Chelsea don’t need his services.

The Blues are already saturated in the wings, with Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer and Angelo Gabriel all options from the wings. Unless the Stamford Bridge club sells one or two of these above-named players, buying Adeyemi is useless and will only increase an already over-bloated squad.
