Leny Yoro reveals Man United match that CONVINCED him to sign

New Manchester United signing Leny Yoro has revealed the match that convinced him to sign for the Red Devils this summer.

The Frenchman joined the Old Trafford club last week from Lille for £52 million ($68m). United were not the only club interested in Yoro. The 18-year-old also had offers from several top clubs across Europe, including reigning Champions League winners Real Madrid and United’s fierce rivals, Liverpool.

However, he ultimately decided to join United, signing a five-year contract with the option of a 12-month extension. His move to the red side of Manchester has surprised many, given United’s struggles last season, Real Madrid’s rich history, and the fact that United are not playing in the Champions League this season.

WHAT LENY YORO SAID

The youngster has, however, revealed his motivation for joining Erik ten Hag’s side.

Speaking to MUTV, the teenager revealed that United’s win over Man City in the FA Cup final last season was the game he saw that convinced him to pick a move to the English giants.

“When I saw the FA Cup win at the end of the season, for me, I really wanted to be with them because to win titles and celebrate with the fans – it’s incredible,” he explained.

OTHER FACTORS

Yoro also stated earlier that he considers former United defender Raphael Varane an inspiration. The Frenchman left Old Trafford this summer after becoming a free agent, so Yoro will practically take his place in the team. Meanwhile, ex-England international and club legend Rio Ferdinand spoke highly of the Premier League side and convinced him to sign on the dotted line.

The 18-year-old made his Man United debut in the club’s second pre-season friendly against Rangers in Scotland last week. He has now travelled to the United States with Erik ten Hag’s side and will be next seen in action on Saturday against Arsenal in Los Angeles.
