Manchester United are already planning to strengthen their squad by signing an Everton star.

Jarrad Braithwaite has once more become the subject of transfer speculation involving Manchester United after the Red Devils saw their first two bids for the highly-rated centre-back rejected.

The 22-year-old left-footed defender has many admirers in the Premier League. His composure on the ball has endeared him to many fans, who were clamouring for him to make it into the Euro 2024 squad following his impressive performance at the heart of the Everton defence.

However, Manchester United has emerged as the side that has shown the most interest in the centre-back.

The Red Devils had bids of £35 million and £45m, plus £5m in add-ons, rejected by Everton before settling for Lille’s Leny Yoro, whom they signed for £52.2m, and Matthijs de Ligt, whom they bought from Bayern Munich for £38.5m plus £4.2m in add-ons.

According to TalkSport, Manchester United are monitoring Braithwaite’s situation in a bid to make another move for the defender after he refused to sign a contract renewal following the contract saga last season.

Despite being plagued with injuries this season, the 22-year-old is still a hot prospect.

According to a report from a source close to the player, the defender would like to play for the Premier League’s top sides, but Manchester United are reluctant to trigger the player’s £70 million release clause with three years still left on this contract.

WHAT TOP SIX SAYS

With Ruben Amorim known to favour a 3-4-3 formation, Braithwaite would be a great addition to the Red Devils’ operating from the left-hand side of the three-man backline.

Manchester United clearly lacks a left-footed defender in their ranks despite their depth in that position.

Whether Ruben Amorim will demand the Englishman come the January transfer window is yet to be seen, especially given the high price tag Everton have slapped on their prized asset.
