How Ruben Amorim really rated his team’s performance against Ipswich

The Sun has revealed how new boss Ruben Amorim rated his side’s performance in his first game in charge.

Manchester United players failed to give the Portuguese coach a perfect start to his tenure at Old Trafford when they faced Ipswich on Sunday evening.

Marcus Rashford scored his second goal in the EPL this season, but it was not enough to give the Red Devils all three points, as Omari Hutchinson restored parity for the hosts.

Despite going down inside two minutes, Ipswich grew into the game and caused Manchester United all sorts of problems.

Kieran McKenna’s boys averaged more shots on target despite having 20% less possession than the Red Devils.

Ruben Amorim, who was in charge of his first game since making the move from Sporting Lisbon, has since revealed his assessment of his team’s performance as revealed by The Sun

What Ruben Amorim said

‘Amorim said their performance was a five out of 10,’ a source reportedly told The Sun.

‘He was critical of one or two players for losing the ball and not being in the right positions. But he also said, “Some of you I’ve had for two days, some two weeks”, so he was realistic.

‘He did say they were going to have to learn quickly.’

What Top Six says

Ruben Amorim’s assessment of his team’s performance shows his love for perfection and attention to detail.

It has been highly speculated that the Portuguese manager does not have the players he needs at Manchester United to deploy his 3-4-3 formation.

This was evident on Sunday as the players were unable to interpret their roles perfectly and had to rely on Andre Onana to save their blushes on more than one occasion.

However, Amorim will have little time to dwell on the draw. United welcomes POAK to Old Trafford on Thursday before the visit of Everton on Sunday.
