Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has identified the Mohamed Salah trait that sets him apart from other players.
The 2024/25 has been a truly remarkable one for Salah and Liverpool. The Egyptian has been in hot form all season, with his goals and assists greatly contributing to Liverpool march to a possible Premier League title.
Salah has 45 goal involvements for the season so far, with his assist in Liverpool’s win over West Ham on Sunday seeing him surpass Henry and Haaland’s record of 44 in a single 38-game Premier League campaign.
The 32-year-old has 27 goals and 18 assists in 32 league appearances in 2024/25, with six still left to play as Liverpool move to within six points of the title.
At his current rate, he is sure to break through 20-assist-a-season record in the Premier League before the season ends.
Fresh from signing a new two-year deal again Liverpool, Salah is posting numbers other players his age are struggling to match, and Henry has admitted being left in awe of the Egyptian’s ability to adapt.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Monday Night Football, Henry said:
“Regardless of what it is, when you can do both, it’s just outstanding.”
“What he’s been doing, we can talk about how it happens, we can talk about opportunities that he has in the box, we can talk about Slot, always when you look at Liverpool, he has three to four to five men sometimes in the box. Even if he misses a cross, the ball will go to the second person and someone can tap it in.”
“But what I’m trying to say is the desire that he had to adapt and change his game to be able to be better and last. That is very important.”
“You don’t have a lot of players that want to adapt and change when they are at the top. They start to do it when they struggle, it’s too late. Do it when you’re at the top, and you are still capable of doing what you can do.
“And for him now to come with what he always did, the assists were always there, but now the numbers are just ridiculous and what he did is just legendary like I said before.”
“Most valuable player, I said earlier Van Dijk most important, (Mohamed Salah) that’s the most valuable player.”
