Manchester United will make a formal approach for £80 MILLION-rated Premier League midfielder this week

Moises Caicedo

Manchester United is set to step up their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo this week after struggling to land Mason Mount from Chelsea.

The Red Devils haven’t given up on signing Mount yet, but they also need a new defensive midfielder and want to beat Chelsea to sign Caicedo from Brighton.

The Ecuadorian was the subject of serious interest from Arsenal in the January transfer window, but the Gunners could not seal the deal, and they turned their attention to Declan Rice in this window.

Chelsea wants Caicedo, but they are now being rivalled by Manchester United, with the Daily Mail revealing the Red Devils are expected to make an approach for him in the next few days.

United consider Mount their main target, but Caicedo could join them before the Englishman’s deal is sorted, with Brighton hoping to make £80 million before losing the South American.

They quoted a similar figure to Arsenal in January and do not seem to have changed their minds regarding that, which will make things difficult for Chelsea and United.

The Blues have sold several players, so they have some money to spend, but United reportedly have just around £100 million to spend on new players and might struggle to sign Mount and Caicedo.
