Chelsea CONSIDERING loan signing of Brighton goalkeeper

Chelsea vs Luton

Chelsea are reportedly looking to sign out-of-favour Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez on loan this summer.

The Blues need a backup goalie for current number one Kepa Arrizabalaga after losing their former number two Edouard Mendy already at Saudi Ppro League side Al-Ahli. And with Gabriel Slonina also being tipped to leave this summer, new coach Mauricio Pochettino wants to ensure he has enough bodies to cover in goal, and he has identified Sanchez as a cheap and ideal candidate for the job.

The Spaniard was among the first names at the Amex Stadium under former Brighton coach Graham Potter. But under Roberto de Zerbi, he has been exiled, with the Italian coach preferring Jason Steele.

As such, Sanchez is in no man’s land and keen on moving to a new club this summer. According to reports, Brighton also feels the same way are willing to allow him to leave on loan, with Chelsea being interested in the offer.

As per talkSPORT (via GOAL), the Blues could move for the 25-year-old in the coming days.

What Pochettino thinks of Kepa

Meanwhile, Pochettino has praised his current number Kepa Arrizabalaga, stating he is pleased with the Spaniard.

“We are so happy with him,” Pochettino told reporters on Friday.

“He is showing great commitment in adapting to new demands from Toni [Jimenez], from the coaching staff, and the goalkeeping coach, him and Hilario are working.

“We are so happy with him; he is a fantastic keeper.”
