Manchester United have completed the signing of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta for a reported £72 million deal.
The 20-year-old had his medical on Friday at the club’s Carrington training base and has been unveiled by the Red Devils today after signing a five-year deal.
He becomes United’s third summer signing following the capture of Mason Mount and Andre Onana from Chelsea and Inter Milan, respectively.
Erik ten Hag’s side beat off competition from Paris Saint-Germain for Hojlund’s signature as the French Ligue 1 side were also interested in him as a potential replacement for wantaway France captain Kylian Mbappe.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Hojlund told the club’s official website that he was happy to finally join a club he has supported since his childhood.
“It is no secret I have been a fan of this great club since I was a small boy,” Hojlund said.
“I dreamed of walking out at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player.”
“I am incredibly excited by this opportunity to turn a dream into a reality, and I am determined to repay the faith the club has shown in me,” Hojlund added.
“It is still early in my career, but I know I am ready to make this step up and play with this group of world-class players.
“Once I had spoken to the manager, I knew this environment would be perfect for my development; I am relishing the opportunity to work with one of the best coaches in the world.
“Under his guidance and support, I know that I am capable of achieving great things together with my new teammates at this special club.”

“Rasmus is a truly exceptional talent,” said Manchester United football director John Murtough.
“He possesses technical and physical attributes which rank him among the best players in the world for his age group.”
“Throughout the summer, we have acted quickly and decisively to secure our primary targets. This will ensure Erik and his coaches have the best opportunity to prepare the squad to push for further success.”
The Danish international only signed for Serie A side Atalanta in 2022 and scored ten goals in 34 appearances last season.
He will miss the opening weeks of the 2023-24 season, which United begin against Wolves on Monday, 14 August, after picking up a small injury during pre-season training with Atalanta.
