Arsenal finally agree to sell veteran for £21.5 million

Granit Xhaka

Arsenal has finally agreed to sell Granit Xhaka to Bayern Leverkusen in a deal that will cost the Germans £21.5 million, as they reshape their squad.

The Gunners are investing heavily in their midfield in this transfer window and have agreed deals for Declan Rice and Kai Havertz already, with the Englishman expected to complete his transfer to the club in the coming days.

Xhaka and Thomas Partey have been key players for the Gunners since Mikel Arteta became the club’s manager and are now expected to leave as the club is being transformed.

Bayer first approached Arsenal in May to sign Xhaka, and the Swiss midfielder is interested, having been offered a four-year deal that guarantees he would be around the top of European football for a long time.

However, the midfielder has not left as Arsenal sorts out replacements before considering allowing any player to leave their squad in this transfer window.

The Sun reveals they have now agreed to sell Xhaka to Xabi Alonso’s side, and the former Basel man will complete the transfer in the coming days when Arsenal has confirmed their move for Rice.

The Englishman is more defensive-minded and Havertz is reportedly the player being signed to replace Xhaka in this transfer window.
