Brighton want more than £100m for Chelsea target Caicedo after Arsenal’s £105m fee for Declan Rice

Moises Caicedo

Brighton have reportedly told Chelsea that only a £100m bid will be adequate to price Moises Caicedo away from Amex Stadium this summer.

Caicedo is Chelsea’s top transfer target this summer. Arsenal also wanted him before they switched their focus to signing Declan Rice.

And with the Rice transfer saga finally, over after the Gunners agreed to pay £105m for the Englishman, Brighton feels that Caicedo should cost close to the £105m Arsenal are paying for the West Ham captain.

The Seagulls view the Ecudarotian as being in the same bracket as Rice and point to the fact that he is three years younger.

And The Telegraph claim they will only be willing to let the 21-year-old leave this summer if they receive a similar fee.

Chelsea and Caicedo have already agreed personal terms. But the Blues will have to agree a fee with Brighton, who are known to be hard negotiators.

Roberto de Zerbi’s side famously rejected a £70m offer from Arsenal for Caicedo in the January transfer window.

Brighton signed the Ecuadorian for around £4 million in 2021. So if they can get £100m for the midfielder, it will represent a massive profit for the Premier League side.
