Liverpool ENTER race for England starlet

Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to sign highly-rated defender Levi Colwill.

The Chelsea starlet was one of the stars of England’s European Under-21 Championship success this summer and is attracting a lot of interest from top English clubs.

The 20-year-old was highly impressive during his loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion last season, and the Seagulls have indicated interest in signing him permanently.

However, Chelsea have made it clear they don’t want to sell the Englishman.

The Blues have informed Colwill that they want to integrate him into their first team this summer after selling Kalidou Koulibaly.

But the player is far from convinced that his long-term future should be at Chelsea, as he is unsure of his first-team chances.

His current deal will expire in 2025, and Chelsea is looking to extend it to avoid losing him for cheap in the future. But as it stands, talks have not advanced, and interested clubs have taken note.

According to 90min, Liverpool feel confident that they can pry Colwill away from Stamford Bridge amid this contract stand-off, despite Chelsea’s insistence that they don’t want to sell him.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been focussing on overhauling their midfield this summer and have signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. They are now also looking at defensive options, and a new centre-half is in their sights.

Colwill happens to be a childhood Red and has a strong relationship with Liverpool youngsters Harvey Elliot and Curtis Jones.
